TATHRA BEACH COUNTRY CLUB LADIES GOLF

There was some hot competition and strong fields competing for the Summer Salver, a very pleased but surprised Margaret Nall was the best of the best, and happily accepted the Salver for 2012 from Sponsor Bev Munz.

Margaret had a nett aggregate of 66 pts. Also contested throughout January was the Summer Stableford, sponsored by Noeline Bell, who was on hand to present the winning Trophy to Kath Brown with 175 Stableford pts, just edging out Colleen Bennett the runner-up on 174 pts. Congratulations girls.

Last Tuesday, President Jenette Cox welcomed us to the Official Golf Calendar for 2012. The course is in excellent condition, the Fairways lush & green, although with the river mouth now closed, water is creeping onto the 4^th/13^thbut we skirted around that and kicked off the year with a bit of fun. 39 played in an Irish 4 Ball Stableford, each team was given a coloured ball, pink yellow green blue, if you returned your ball at the end of the day, it was worth an extra 5 pts. & woe betide any team who lost their coloured ball, as their chances of scoring were halved. (they’re a tough lot the Irish) The winning team was Pam Hahne, Noeline Bell, Carol Stege and Kath Brown with 73 pts, on a count back from Trish Westmore, Colleen Bennett, Margaret Nall & Amy Bennett. Three other teams received balls with scores going only to 71. NTP’s 3^rdJenny Ellis, 9^thCarol Stege, 14^thNoeline Bell & the 18^thto Sue Cotterill.

And to start the year off right, we added some booty to the coffers with a raffle, first prize a lovely plant was won by Kath Brown & the Tote Bag went home with Libby Whiteway. Next Saturday, every-ones favourite a Par, and then serious stuff starts Tuesday, with a Stroke & GNSW Medal No1. The Monday Nine-holers are ready & raring to go, their year begins next Monday 8.30a.m. start, just turn up to play, new players always welcome. Good Golfing 2012.
