Golfing at the picturesque Tathra riverside links was enjoyed by a bounty of members and visitors over the past week.
Thursday’s “ Don’t Work, Won’t Work” attracted 56 starters, where the A Grade competition was taken out by a rejuvenated Barry Grant on 39 points.
Word has it that Barry has thrived in his blissful spelling paddock after a torrid wedding reception and celebration and this has sharpened his golfing skills no end.
Ray Richards claimed B Grade on an inspiring 44 points. Those in the know realise that this old sailor was far too generously handicapped and that this win was far from unexpected.
C grade saw the consistent George George win from the unlucky Bruce Rodely on countback.
Balls went to an embarrassing 35 points.
Saturday’s PAR event saw Tathra’s vertically challenged golfing twins, Peter Crain and Peter Steet, win A and B Grade respectively with their shared lack of height proving no barrier to victories.
Col Boulter smoked the C grade field defeating the ever consistent, Constable John Trent no less.
Nearest the pins proved hard to win, with some very accurate shooting particularly from the venerable Mark Venables, whose shot to the challenging 9th hole sailed into the hole ! Well done Mark, and we look forward to celebrating, at your expense, very shortly.
Balls went to plus 2.
Members are reminded that the second round of the Heavy Haulage shield will be played at Candelo on August 1, with apologies to those celebrating an equine birthday.
